RETTENDON HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY
This society has been around for more than a hundred years and the activity continues unabated. The constitution deems that we operate for the teaching and encouragement of horticultural pursuits and keeping this in mind we endeavour to keep up with the ever-changing fashions within this field. Maintaining a broad vision we hope to have something to interest all from the window box to the estate, and plan our diary accordingly.
We have three shows a year, spring, summer and autumn. Our summer show is teamed with a fete and incorporates classes for cookery and handicrafts to enable us to see a range of product from the local populace. All this competition keeps us on our toes!
A coach trip to somewhere special is always popular and several visits to other venues arranged. There are normally two informatory talks on specialist subjects to widen our horizons.
Links are kept with neighbouring societies and information and plants exchanged frequently between members, enhancing the interaction of friends and neighbours. Local growers and retail nurseries have given tremendous support over the years for which we are indebted.
This society, like our gardens, is forever changing. So new faces are sure of a welcome here. Just contact our Chairperson, Hazel, tel: 01245 401538, or via the village newsletter.
